The parable of the ten bridesmaids [Matt. 25] seems a non-sequitor. Why did Jesus offer it?

One view is that he was pulling the beards of the priesthood. But was he also speaking to women regarding their journey?

Consider that the bridesmaids do not wait with the bride. Instead, they attend the groom. Was this tradition, in the era? Doubtful.

Turn, then, to the final chapters [Rev. 19, 21, and 22] of John’s Revelation, when the masculine Spirit and feminine Bride are united. The Bride is revealed as the “Tree of Life,” whose “leaves” (women) bring “healing to the nations.” Around the walls of the New Jerusalem shield them from harm.

Ladies, you cannot be united with Her until Jesus organizes that protection. The “oil” in the parable refers to your virtue. Hold on to it, or Her glory will turn you back.
