Let Love In

We are given the gift of Love. That God IS love means, at the deepest level, that when we say “I Love You” we are asking God to enter the world to amplify what serves our own fulfilment.

Of course, we struggle, constantly trying to control the course chosen by those we claim to love. We don’t want to lose them. In our fear, we bring pain upon ourselves and others.

In witnessing that pain, those that love without reservation sit by the beloved. We hold their hand and wipe away their tears. This informs our understanding of Jesus’ promise to wipe away every tear.

But Christ’s plans are far greater.

In the end, as foretold in Daniel’s dream, the pages of the Book of Life will be opened. Christ will reach through time and “harvest the grapes,” the moments when love was allowed to do its work without self-concern. The pain that we have caused will not just be healed, but left behind. The best of us will be brought forward into the kingdom that He safeguards with his Bride.

“Let all that hear come. And let those that hear say ‘Come!’ Let all that wish come and drink from the Springs of the Waters of Life.”
